Husbands say the darndest things...

Short post, but I had to share this. :-)

Last night I started having regular contractions again. John was timing them for me. I couldn't remember how long we had been timing contractions, and I ask him "So, how long do you think this has been going on?"

John says, "Since the beginning of time, I guess."

I start laughing so hard that my contractions stop.

Men... :-)

When?

After having tons of false alarms, I just wanted to post and let everyone know that Rachel has NOT arrived yet (unfortunately). I don't know why I wish for her to hurry up and get here, especially knowing that this labor will be very fast and VERY painful (and that afterwards I will have 2 babies to care for instead of just one). Hormones talking, I guess...

Anyway, just wanted to post an update. I'm very tired today. John and I were up timing contractions for 3 hours. Eric only had one nap (sigh). Such is life...

Surprise!

This afternoon was crazy- I said goodbye to my sister and went with John to pick up my friend Karen from Maryland where she was visiting another friend. Karen is staying with me until Tuesday. I had no idea why she traveled all the way from Liberty, Missouri to visit me with her five-month old. I seriously thought she was having problems in her marriage or something.

Turns out my friends and family threw me a surprise baby shower! I couldn't believe it. When I walked through the door I saw friends, my sister, parents, grandparents, aunts, cousins... I was so overwhelmed with gratitude for their generosity (my extended family lives about 4 hours away) I started crying. And I now know why people I haven't seen in years sent me stuff off my registry (thank you, Patrick)!

Anyway, I'm sure my sister will send me pictures soon. But this entry was just a big "THANK YOU!" to all of my friends and family. I love you guys so much!! What you did for Rachel and me today meant the world to me!!

Vote for the Worst

Anyone out there give a crap about American Idol? No? Me neither. But John found the most hilarious web site called "Vote for the Worst" which makes fun of every episode. I posted the link. Trust me- whether you love the show or have never seen it, reading this blog will make you laugh out loud.

Snots

So this is my new name for Eric.  I know, it's awful.  I've been chasing Eric around for 2 days with a tissue.  I never knew someone so small could produce so much mucus!  At first I thought he was teething.  Now I'm not so sure.  He's been sneezing and coughing at night especially.  Last night I started sneezing and began taking zinc as I felt I was coming down with a cold.  But Eric, God bless him, if he is sick, the runny nose is the only real symptom.

It's gorgeous here today.  It must be over 70 degrees.  I took Eric outside for almost an hour.  I introduced him to his slide, but my legs and back were hurting too bad to continue to pick him up to slide him down.  He loved it though, so I feel bad.  I really hope the weather stays warm.  We've been spoiled here lately!

In other news, my sister will be visiting on Friday.  She lived in North Carolina so I don't get to see her often.  And then on Saturday Karen will be coming with Evie!  It will be so awesome to see her and Evie again.  I haven't seen Evie since she was about six weeks old.  She's now 5 months.  It's amazing how fast kids grow...

Finally- pics of bedrooms!

Craziness and chronic leg and back pain have made it hard to upload the last of the new house pictures I took over a week ago. Basically when Eric naps, I have to lay down or I literally can't walk for more than 20 minutes at a time. I can only hope that once Rachel is born, the pain stops. Because pain like this coupled with the sleep deprivation of having an infant would be too much!

So anyway, here are the pics! :-)

Eric drives Daddy's car when he comes home from work. (OK, he's actually just sitting on John's lap as John coasts the car into the garage as I open the garage door for them because we only have one garage door opener that works!)

Eric's room. The blue blinds came with the house.  Unfortunately, it doesn't really go well with anything, but once Eric gets older he can pick out his own bedroom stuff (which will hopefully be blue!).

Rachel's room.  John picked out the black furniture, which goes really well with the cherry blossom theme.   The red blinds came with the room.  I think she has the best room in the house.

The master bath- redone and very nice. But I wish we had a jacuzzi tub as opposed to a giant shower.   And I have a cameo in the mirror to the medicine cabinet.
BTW- this is the second bathroom in the house that's blue. Blue. Ugh. But it's very nice. Love the double sinks!

Our master bedroom. Furniture courtesy of Room Store. :-)   It has a Japanese theme- big surprise!  ;-)  We have been sleeping on a full size bed for years, and now finally have a king. When you're 35 weeks pregnant it's GLORIOUS! :-)
