The family story on me was that I was reading for the two weeks past my due date. Finally my mom (who like you already had a young kid) got tired of it and demanded a C-section. At the time, my dad was working double-shift and came home only to sleep for a few hours, so she didn't have someone to hold her hand and time contractions; you are a bit luckier than she was :-)
